Lupus Warrior, Tamara L. Pipkin of Longview, TX (born April 10, 1970).

         I was diagnosed with Lupus and several other autoimmune diseases at the age of 22. At the time, I was a young wife of 3 years and three children, all 15 months apart.

When my children became a little older I started with illnesses; at the same time raising a family.

I took the time raising my children, along with continuing my education and raising my family. I continued until I received my associates in Psychology, Bachelor in Business, and Masters in Criminology. All of this through the struggle of my lupus and others diseases. That is why I started the organization, and that was purely the struggle. The struggle of getting up in the morning, dealing with pain all day, taking over 15 medications a day, and so much more struggles that people with Lupus/autoimmune and invisible diseases deal with every day.

Colors of Courage is all about Lupus, Autoimmune, and invisible diseases. It is also about the patients and their families that struggle with those daily struggles that we call extraordinary needs. These needs include patients that need assistance with travel to get help from better specialists. Also a patient that may be losing their home, behind on rent due to financial struggles, and having to pay on co-pays or assistant programs. These are just a few instances where we help those and their families with these types of diseases get through these struggles with less stress. It has been proven that stress increases and flares problems with all of these diseases.

Our motto:Education, support, and awareness. Educating those who do not know much about their diseases. The Dr's seem to not have enough time. Support in all extraordinary ways, and create awareness through out E. Texas; county to county, city to city, and community to community. Knowing that the "The Struggle is Real", we're here to help patients and their families through their struggles. Even if its' just to talk. We are here for the REAL struggles that people with these diseases have to go through.

Therefore, your donations are multifaceted. Not only , for one disease, not only for one purpose, not only for one gender, nationality or religion, but for EVERYONE
